Our Mission

The Hillmen Foundation was founded in 1989 by two renowned PHS educators and principals, Jug Covich and Tom Johnson. Even then, they recognized the critical need for community support to fill the gaps in public education funding and ensure that Placer High and its students thrive. Through a collaboration of alumni, faculty and staff, parents, friends, and business and community supporters, their vision and tenacity created a Foundation that is now more than 30-years strong. Still, the need for the Hillmen Foundation has never been more important. 


Providing a strong educational environment goes well beyond what state funding provides. Placer High is critical to ensuring healthy property values and the economic benefits of a well-educated workforce for our community. It takes an effective public-private collaboration to help provide the margin of excellence that makes our school and community excel. This is where the Hillmen Foundation makes a difference.

With the generosity of our donors, alumni and community, we accomplish our goals through two main program areas: 

• Grants provide direct funding to address student needs in the areas of academics, athletics and student activities, as well as alumni programs and special capital projects. Learn more…

MISSION STATEMENT

The purpose of the Hillmen Foundation is to support Placer High School in the areas of academics, student activities, and athletics, including the staff, students, and alumni endeavors of the school; to stimulate gifts of service, endowments, and bequests; and to maintain an association of persons interested in Placer High School.
