Your gifts, both large and small, will help transform the lives of Placer High students, our community and life on the Hill. All gifts to The Hillmen Foundation are tax deductible, as permitted by state and federal tax laws.
Here are some ways you can support the Hillmen Foundation (please consult with your financial or tax advisor to determine the best options for your interests):
Cash Gifts Gifts of all sizes are welcome. Donations can be made securely online via PayPal or credit card, or by simply mailing a check to the Hillmen Foundation.
Matching Gifts If your company offers a matching gift program, you can double your impact. Check with your employer to see if they offer a matching charitable gifts program.
Legacy Gifts Your legacy can live on at Placer High School through a gift from your estate. Several of our graduates and friends over the years have named the Hillmen Foundation in their wills or trusts, or as a life insurance or retirement plan beneficiary, among other options.
Endowment You can establish an endowment with the Hillmen Foundation as a restricted fund towards a scholarship or funding area of the Foundation. The endowment can be established either as 1) a fund where a set amount is distributed annually until the balance is spent; or 2) where only the interest/income is spent, not the principal. In the second option, as the principal grows, through contributions and investment growth, the amount paid out for scholarship or program support grows.
Tribute Gifts Gifts in memory or in honor of a loved one are a great way to honor a graduate, alumnus, family, or favorite faculty member or coach. It’s also a nice way to recognize a birthday, anniversary, graduation, or any other significant life event. You can also recognize a family that may have generations of Placer grads.
IRA Distribution If you are 70-1/2 years old or older, you can support the Hillmen Foundation and reduce your taxable income with a Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD) from your IRA -- up to $100,000 per year. When donated directly from your IRA to a qualified charity, like the Hillmen Foundation, it will count towards your required minimum distribution (RMD) and reduce your taxable income. It’s a great tax strategy for you while also benefitting the Hillmen Foundation.
Stock and Other Assets Donations of stocks, bonds, mutual funds, securities, and other assets are another way you can make a significant impact while considering tax advantages.
Donor Advised Funds If you have a Donor Advised Fund with the Placer Community Foundation or other financial institution, you can recommend a gift from your fund to the Hillmen Foundation.
Real Estate You can gift your home, rental property, land, investment or commercial property to the Hillmen Foundation. By giving property to the Hillmen Foundation, you can avoid or reduce the capital gains tax you would otherwise pay on the sale, or you may be able to take a substantial income tax deduction.
